Submitting Exams

All exams are to be submitted to Citizens' High School. Envelopes to send in the exams are provided with the course material. The student is responsible for postage on all exams sent to CHS. In addition, copies of the exams or rough drafts should be retained by the student in case any exam is ever lost in the mail.

A completed and signed Student Form and Exam Certification is required for each exam submitted to CHS. Many exam Answer Sheets have these forms “built-in” at the top of the sheet, so a separate slip is not required. For those exams without the “built-in” Student Form, separate forms to be attached to each exam sent to the school is provided with the course materials.

It is important that the student submit each exam to the school as soon as it is completed. If several exams are sent at one time, several problems occur. First, much of the subject matter instruction “builds” on what was learned in the previous lesson. It is important for the student to have comments on each lesson to ensure that they are grasping the material correctly and building the proper foundation for the following lessons. Also, by sending exams individually, the school can estimate the completion time of the subject so that the next subject can be sent. This way the student always has a subject on hand and their progress is not delayed.

If any exam is returned to the student with an incomplete or failing grade, the work must be redone and resubmitted. A student must complete and pass all exams in a course before a final grade and a Certificate of Completion can be issued.

After exams arrive at CHS, it usually takes one to two days before the teacher receives them. Although the majority of teachers return graded exams within two to three days, they have a full five days in which to return the exams. When the exams are corrected, it takes the office one day to process them and mail them back to the student.
