Previous Credit

• Home School Credits: 9th-12th grade

Citizens’ provides an opportunity for students who have completed high school coursework through home education to earn an accredited high school diploma through Citizens’ High School. A minimum of sixteen (16) units of credit must be completed in order to receive a diploma from Citizens’ High School. Up to twelve (12) previously completed credits approved by Citizens’ can be applied toward the required sixteen units. At least four (4) units of credit must be completed with Citizens’ in order to receive a Citizens’ High School diploma.

After evaluation of the student’s homeschool credits, the student will be notified, in writing, of the number of subjects required to meet graduation requirements and adjustments to the student’s tuition, if any.

In order for a student to receive credit for courses completed through home education, the student’s parent or legal guardian must provide the following information AT THE TIME OF ENROLLMENT using forms supplied by CHS:

  • A completed and signed Home School Grade Transcript of the student’s performance and credits earned in grades nine through twelve;
  • A completed and signed Home School Curriculum Validation listing the educational materials used for each subject completed in grades nine through twelve;
  • A completed and signed Home School Education Evaluation of the student’s academic progress in grades nine through twelve.

• Public/Private High School Credits: 9th-12th grade

Citizens’ High School will consider awarding credit for courses taken from private or public high schools at the 9th through 12th grade level. In order to do this it is imperative that we have a copy of the official grade transcripts. The student and/or parent is responsible for requesting any needed transcripts to be sent to Citizens’ High School. After evaluation of the student’s previous high school credits, the student will be notified, in writing, of the number of subjects required to meet graduation requirements and adjustments to the student’s tuition, if any.

Important note: For those students who are dually-enrolled in Citizens’ High School and another public or private high school or a home school, please include a list of subjects the student is currently taking for credit through this other school for transfer to Citizens’. This will prevent possible duplication of coursework when a final determination is made of the subjects the student must complete for a Citizens’ High School diploma.

• Foreign Country Credits: 9th-12th grade

Students wishing to obtain approval toward a Citizens’ diploma for high school level subjects completed at a school in another country must include with their Enrollment Agreement an official grade transcript signed by a school official, with a certified English translation attached, showing subjects taken, final grades, and a grading scale before their enrollment will be processed.
